MIQUEL DE JORGE ARTELLS
Composer for Film and Concert Music | Arranger & Orchestrator | Violinist.

Born in Lleida (1994), he began studying violin and piano at the age of 7 at the Conservatori Municipal de Lleida and in the Escolania of Montserrat (Barcelona).
In 2013, he completed his Professional Diploma of Music at the Conservatori Municipal de Lleida with the violinist Francesc Rodoreda.
In 2017 he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in violin, specialising in Classical and Contemporary Music Performance at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona under the tutelage of Kai Gleusteen and Oksana Solovieva.
In 2021 he graduated with a Composition degree in the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) studying with the composer Bernat Vivancos, with the film composer Arnau Bataller, and he also had the opportunity to study with Per Mårtensson at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH).
He studied orchestration and arrangement with Johan Hammerth, Albert Guinovart and with Bernat Vivancos.
In 2018 he was awarded at the 1st Young Competition of Composition in Catalonia, by the Federation “Corals Joves de Catalunya” for his work “Mester d’Amor” for womens choir (SMzA).
In 2021 he received his first award for the Soundtrack from SITTER, in the category of Best Background Music in the 5th Indian World Film Festival.
As a composer he is interested in the development of pure sonorities which, with great care, beauty, and sensitivity, affect the listener in a profound manner. He works meticulously with each motif and harmony, searching for the colours and textures that create the richest sound possible; melding modal music with traditional Western tonality and polytonality.
He has worked in the music of several audiovisual projects, especially short films, either in independent productions or in collaboration with student projects. All of them with the variety of different genres such as Thriller, Romance, Horror, Comedy, Drama and Animation.
He has been a member of the Escolania de Montserrat Choir (2004-2008), the Chamber Choir of the Enric Granados Auditorium (2009-2013), the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC)(2014-2016), a collaborator with the “Orquestra Simfònica del Vallés” (2016-2019) and member of the Barcelona Philharmonic Orchestra (2016-2019).
